So… I started my year off with a very important and fulfilling trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Last year, I made a goal for myself to actually PUT into action what I was curious about. Instead of continuing to dream about going to another country or attending a photo/video workshop - my goal : to actually GO and DO it. Also, my goal was to come back to social media in 2020 as well with blogs, content, website, etc.
Anyway, so last year I said to myself… ok let me search for workshops that look awesome. I happened to run across the Wedding Film Retreat that happened to be holding a workshop in Mexico and thought - hey why not. So I went out on a limb and booked it.
Why not. I had no idea who these people were, had never been to Mexico, and was just trusting that I’d actually be safe, have a good time, and learn something.
And… I did. It was awesome. I met 40 of the coolest people EVER - all who inspired, encouraged and shared their knowledge with me as a creative person. These people sort of had the same story but were some of THE nicest individuals I had the pleasure of getting to know over the 4 days in Mexico. In all, I’d do this trip again and again. The trip itself was both refreshing and stimulating and it was the best thing I could have done for my sanity, career, and soul.
In the midst of hearing the horrific Kobe Bryant news and seeing how he lived his life, this trip also kind of validated the way he lived his life. You do as much as you can to enjoy each and every day, do things that you are curious about and continue to work hard until your time is up - whenever that time comes. We all hope to live forever but until then try your best to do what you love.
I’ll always continue my pursuit of purpose, passion, and curiosity. I will also continue to live by Kobe Bryant’s work ethic and spirit to :
“Rest at the end. Not in the middle”
2020 will be a beautiful one. I hope it. I can feel it and I will try to make it that.
Big thanks to both Sarah and Rick Pendergraft of The Wedding Film Retreat
